The Q

In my mid-20’s I began volunteering regularly at local organizations that addressed issues I was concerned with. I very quickly found myself falling in love with community based organizations and the people who support them.

I was honored to serve as the youngest member of the board of directors in the history of Austin Area Interreligious Ministries (www.aaimaustin.org) from 2003-2005. I also sat on the board of directors of Muslim Community Support Services (www.mcssaustin.org) from 2002-2005.

After the birth of my children in 2003 I founded a small women’s organization, Central Texas Muslimaat, (www.ctmuslimaat.org) which received its tax-exempt status in December 2006.

I am currently continuing my education by taking a course in Non-Profit Leadership and Management offered by the Texas Association of Non-Profit Organizations (www.TANO.org) and Austin Community College’s Center for Community Based and Non-Profit Organizations (http://www.austincc.edu/npo/).

I look forward to a career in the non-profit sector, supporting my community with my heart, mind, and soul.
